PLAYLISTS
So, I got my driver’s license last week (yes, I realize that's exactly how the song, “Driver’s License” starts, but it is a fact for me). I took the test twice. I failed the first time (obviously). The second time, I got the same test instructor, and she remembered me, so that was awkward. I passed though! So, I decided to pots this playlist. I made it while learning how to drive. It’s a playlist of songs I think would be great in a movie during a driving montage (whether you yourself are driving or not). Let me explain:
“Cheesin’” has a bubbly, upbeat sound that makes me think of a montage of driving down the freeway or to the beach.
“Mouthful of Diamonds” is the song that is played over a montage of driving through LA late at night, probably in the middle of downtown. You are getting food and going to a show of some sort. It’s very eclectic.
“Busy Earnin’” is specifically a song for backing up to. Like backing out of a driveway, or down the street. I don’t care. This is the song for the occasion.
“Dead Boys” is a song that plays when you are on a bus, or in the back of a car. It’s fall season and the weather is gloomy. Perhaps you are depressed. The other possibility is that you are driving and are trying to make a decision. As the music ramps up, you make a life-changing decision.
“Is This It” is the song that would play during a montage where everyone is just truly happy. The sun is setting and the car is full. People are laughing, and it’s just a good time.
“Baby Britain” is a depressing song, but with a happy melody, so to me, it would be a happy montage. It might be a morning road trip.
“Tenderness” is a sunset song. On an empty road. The echoey voice adds a perfect haunting aspect to the montage. It would be very peaceful.
“Mourning Sound” is the song for a freeway montage with you and your friends. Hair in the wind and all. It’s summer and you are in a car with the top open.
“Champagne Coast” is another nighttime song. It’s the end of the night, and it has been really fun. Probably came from a party or something. You are dancing in th car and just having the time of your life!
“Bloodstream” is for the early-bird montage. Everything is waking up and the day is exciting and new. Perhaps you are just in your normal routine, or you are heading to the airport for a trip.
“Sugar For The Pill” is the song for the montage when it’s raining. You are not driving. You are on a bus. You are sitting alone, staring out the window, looking at the skyline. It’s been a long day, and you are ready to go home.
“Big Wheel” is the song for a realization that you make. At this point in the story, your life has changed majorly, and you are thinking about your past, present and future.
If you read all of my weird ideas, thank you! These are also just songs I like to listen to when I'm driving, so that’s another reason that they are on here. I’ll probably keep adding to this playlist at some point of other, so stay tuned!
